Ryan Orion Beck

Choreographer

Ryan Orion Beck is an award-winning choreographer and active leader in the San Diego dance community. Mr. Beck began his training in San Diego under the instruction of Teresa Wells and later studied on full scholarship at Pacific Northwest Ballet School in Seattle. He earned his degree in Ballet from North Carolina School of the Arts, studying Balanchine style under the instruction of Melissa Hayden.

Over his career, Mr. Beck danced with San Diego Ballet, Harbor Ballet, Is- land Moving Company, and Ballet Rox. He has had featured roles in Contemporary productions with choreographers including Steve Rooks and Lynn Taylor Corrbett and partnered members of ABT, Boston Ballet and New York City Ballet. High- light roles include Jose Limons “Unsung" Balanchine’s, "Stars and Stripes", "Alle- gro Brilliante", and "Scottish Symphony."

While in New York, he was a founding Director of FARMdance. Returning to San Diego, Ryan Orion Beck teamed with Kevin Jenkins to create the Garage Contemporary Ballet Company. He was a member of the San Diego Area Dance Alliance and the Community Arts Advisory Council and remains and active advo- cate in the community.

Mr. Beck’s dance film “Red Plot” received Pointe Magazine’s Viewer’s Choice Award and was featured in the Movies by Movers Film Festival. Most re- cently he created Pink Decadence a rock ballet, to music by Pink Floyd for Cali- fornia Ballet Company.
